Who doesn’t love a cheeky Spag Bol? We do, so we’ve popped our favourite recipe right here. However if you have your own a favourite recipe we’ve got no beef with that, simply cook up The Unbelievable ALT. Mighty Beefless Mince using the pack instructions and add it to your favourite Bolognese sauce like you would with meat mince! Yum.
360g The Unbelievable ALT. Mighty Beefless Mince
2 Onions, finely chopped
½ Large carrot, finely chopped
½ Leek, finely chopped
2 sticks Celery, finely chopped
2 cloves Garlic, crushed
2 tsp Dry Italian herbs (or Thyme, Rosemary, Oregano, Bay leaf)
3 tbsp Vegetable oil
1 x 400g tin of plum tomatoes (rinse ¼ tin of water)
2 tbsp Tomato Pureé
1 tsp Either Marmite and/or Bisto
Small glass red wine
Ground black pepper
Put a large saucepan on a medium heat. Add the oil, onions, leek, carrot and celery. Sweat until softened and lightly browned.
Add garlic & herbs cook for 3-4 mins.
Add tomatoes, water, tomato pureé, Marmite or Bisto. Simmer over a low heat
In a separate frying pan cook The Unbelievable ALT. Mighty Beefless Mince as per the pack instructions.
Once it is cooked, transfer the mince to the sauce pan. Add a small glass of red wine to the frying pan you used to cook the mince – and heat until it bubbles and give it a good stir to release any mince that has stuck to the frying pan (French cooking technique called “deglazing”!). Now scrape this into to the sauce pan.
Cook Pasta (reserve a mug full of the water when you drain it)
Add the spaghetti to the sauce and stir in a little of the cooking water (the starchy water helps create a lovely coating sauce) Add fresh basil, parmesan fresh ground black pepper to serve.
